PERSIAN NATIONALITY LAW AND BRITISH NATURALI ZATION.
TRANSLATION OF THE NATIONALITY LAW OF "HE PERSIAN GOVER LENT,
Any person born within the Persian territory is considered a Persian subject unless it is made evident that his parents, or his father only, have been Foreign subjects at the time of his birth, in which case the person in question will be recognised as a Foreign subject.
Foreign subjects born in Persia can acquire Persian nationality after reaching the age of puberty and their application will be accepted.
Those of the Foreign subjects who may wish to acquire Persian nationality should (1) have reached the age of puberty (maturity); (2) have dwelt five consecutive years in some part of Persia; and (3) not have been convicted of any crime or desertion of military service when enjoying his original nationality. Such a person should submit his application to the proper authorities and is entitled to obtain Persian nationality.
Those of the Foreign subjects who might not have fulfilled the term of residence in the Persian territory, as set down in the foregoing clause, and who apply for grant of Persian naturalization will be exceptionally granted Persian nationality on condition that the Imperial Persian Government might distinguish due merit in him for the grant.
Those of the Persian subjects who might have changed nationality, whether through their fathers or through their own initiation, and who may wish to regain Persian nationality, are entitled to get it on simple application without having fulfilled the prescribed terms,
Foreign women who might have married with Persians will naturally acquire Persian nationality and after the divorce or the death of their Persian husbands they are free to return to their original nationality.
Foreign wives of Foreign subjects cannot acquire Persian nationality unless they acquire it together with their husbands after fulfilment of the prescribed terms.
Any person who may wish to acquire Foreign nationality in Foreign countries should (1) not have been attainted of any crime in Persian courts; (2) not be engaged in the proceedings of a law-suit and should not have deserted any. law-suit; (3) not have deserted military service; and (4) not have been in debt and intended to evade his debts; otherwise the change of nationality would be regarded as null and void and on his return to Persia he will be treated as a Persian subject.
Acquisition of Foreign nationality, besides the above terms, depends upon the permission and decision of a Tajesty the Shah and any person who might acquire Foreign nationality in Foreign countries without getting this permission is forbidden from entering Persia and he is obliged to cut off all connections with Persia, such as possessions, properties, etc.
